Inattentive Driving

Two weeks ago I took a job that required “long-distance” driving to and from work. I know that one hour driving is not that much for many people. But for me one hour driving is a lot, because I have never enjoyed car driving.

When I got the driver license many years ago, I drove a car that could stop running anytime during driving, and I had to get help from others to recharge the car battery. It was a very big car with uncomfortable seats. I never felt that I was in total control when driving.

Today I drive another car, which is more comfortable and has never failed to get me anywhere. So I should enjoy driving. But the traffic jams can be really bad, and combined with tiredness after work, I can be a very inattentive driver.

Today I backed my car into another car because I did not pay enough attention to driving - I was distracted. Besides high risk behaviour, the lack of attention is the main cause of traffic accidents.

If you are too tired or distracted or disturbed by emotions and thoughts, stop and rest before you continue. You can save yourself and others a lot of unhappiness.
